Brackenrig Center Rd.
Comments: Brackenrig Nursery has been growing plants on the premises
since 1988, for Muskoka and surrounding areas. The greenhouses cover
about 14,000 sq.ft. and are mainly used to grow annuals and perennials,
in this not always so forgiving climate. Another few acres of growing
space is devoted to many varieties of larger sized perennials, shrubs
and trees grown in containers. The plants are overwintered outside and
are proven to be hardy for this area. We welcome the individual
gardener as well as the landscapers. Over the years the nursery has
propagated thousands of plants native to Muskoka, as well as
naturalized species and we now have a large amount of native plant
material available.
Growing plants is our passion, and watching them grow, we feel
rejuvenated. Our spirits are lifted high and we continue our quest to
grow strong healthy plants with renewed energy. We are excited to
inspire other gardeners. Many of us are looking for relieve from
everyday stresses. The garden is the ideal place to just ‘be’ and
relax. It is a place where we can connect with the natural world, feel
part of it. It is a place where we can express ourselves, and let our
imagination go wild. It is a place for healing. The more time we spend
close to nature, the closer we get to recognizing our true potential.
Making use of natural materials, selecting plants suitable for our
growing conditions, we aim to work with nature rather than against it.

Comments: A Muskoka heritage farm, Brooklands Farm was established in
1876 by Charles W. Riley and has been farmed by the Riley family for 6
generations. The Rileys practice sustainable/biological (the middle
path) farming and implement strict BMPs (best management practices and
IPM (Integrated Pest Management). Nutritionally the produce grown on
the farm is as good as organic. The Maple Syrup is produced using
organic, kosher and seal of quality guidelines. Customers are
encouraged to pick their own berries and vegetables during the growing
season as this not only guarantees freshness but can also be very
educational and/or therapeutic. Ready picked produce is picked and sold
on the day that it is harvested. Rapid post harvest chilling of
delicate produce contributes towards optimum quality control. We
deliver if orders are large enough to warrant a trip! Availability of
produce is updated on the farm hotline on a daily basis. We also
conduct farm tours and have a heritage century barn to facilitate
workshops or select events.
